My View - A members overview.
Expressing my view on discussion topics has allowed me to learn so much about the topics that I am interested in. By sharing my view on discussion topics I get an inside look at opposing views that I may not otherwise be aware of. I have been able to learn so much just by reading other opinions that oppose my view. It is great to be able to come to a site where I can create my own discussion topics and get a general consensus from real people about my own topics of interest.
Expressing my view and the YourTakes.com response.
When I share my view on topics that I am interested in I automatically get a link in my profile to that topic. It's like having my own personal favorites saved directly in my profile. This gives me an easy way to return to topics and view responses to my posts.
Sharing my view and seeing opposing views.
It's always a benefit to see what others think about discussion topics that I am interested in. I have always said that in order to have a worthy opinion about any topic, it's crucial to understand all sides of the topic. There's no better way to understand all sides of a topic than discussing it with people who have opposing views. More often than not there are opinions about topics that you would never be aware of without starting a dialog with people who have different perspectives.
Learning from other opinions.
I can't count the times my view has changed on a topic when introduced to a different perspective. It's amazing how many good points can come from an active discussion topic that you never even thought of. I have been able to learn quite a bit on topics that I am interested in just by viewing other posts made by other users. Sometimes my view changes and other times I hear supporting views that align with my own that just make my view on a topic that much more solid.
Creating my own topics.
I really like the fact that on YourTakes.com I am able to create my own topics and start discussions with friends and other members about topics that I am really interested in or want to learn more about. Even if I am just looking for a quick answer on a subject I can get feedback from other members and quickly add up opposing views and decide what my own position is.
